Webinar on the use of satellite imagery and analysis of geospatial data to document and corroborate damage to cultural heritage

UNESCO and UNITAR/UNOSAT, together with the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communication of Ukraine, invite Ukrainian immovable cultural heritage protection professionals, archaeologists, damage assessment experts, restorers, academic staff, university professors, scholars, scientists, analysts, software developers and other specialists involved in heritage work to join an online webinar on the use of satellite imagery and analysis of geospatial data to document and corroborate damage to cultural heritage in Ukraine, scheduled for the 21 November 2024 from 14:00 to 17:00 (Kyiv time).

The purpose of the 3-hour webinar will be to present the activities undertaken by UNITAR/UNOSAT and UNESCO to monitor cultural heritage property in Ukraine since 2022, including damage assessment methods and familiarization with the principles of using Geospatial Information Technologies (GIT), Earth Observation (EO) and Remote sensing (RS) technologies, document and corroborate damage of cultural heritage via satellite imagery, ending with a demo on using the UN-ASIGN application.

This event is open to all interested parties and interpretation in Ukrainian will be available.
