On 16 September 2019, at 1:00pm, a press conference regarding the start of KYIV MEDIA WEEK, the largest media forum in Eastern and Central Europe, is to take place at Hyatt Regency Kyiv (Library Hall).
The event will discus a number of pressing issues for media industry, including the challenges being faced by the media at both local and international levels, and respective predictions in connection with those challenges and change of power in Ukraine.
The list of speakers at the press conference includes Volodymyr Borodianskyi, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport. He will speak, among other things, of the merger of three ministries and the synergy effect for successful development of all the areas of humanitarian policy; comment on two important bills concerning modern film industry, namely Draft Law on Amending the Budget Code of Ukraine Regarding State Support for Film Industry (No. 1074; already passed by the Verkhovna Rada) and Draft Law on Amending Law of Ukraine “On State Support for Film Industry in Ukraine” Regarding Rebates (No. 1058). The discussion will also touch upon the issues of transparent state financing of film industry and the criteria to be met by institutions with respective portfolios.
The press conference will also be attended by Viktoriia Yarmoshchuk, CEO Ukrainian Film Association, coordinator of the Film area at the Office for Humanitarian Policy; Yaroslav Lodyhin, member of the Board of the Public Broadcaster of Ukraine overseeing TV platform; Pavlo Sushko, Ukrainian MP, Chair of the Verkhovna Rada Subcommittee on Film Industry and Advertising, member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy; Ihor Koval, Director of the Industrial Television Committee; Kateryna Fedorova, Director of Clear-Sky Initiative; Yuliia Fediv, Director of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.
