On 24 October 2018, at 2:00pm, a press conference on the occasion of the anniversary of the liberation of Ilmi Umerov and Akhtem Chyihoz, deputy Chairmen of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, who were illegally sentenced in occupied Crimea.
At the event, the plight of political prisoners in occupied Crimea, protection of their rights, and prospects of their liberation will be discussed.
Mykola Polozov, a lawyer, will speak about progress in court hearings against the Presidential Administration of Russia on granting pardon decrees, necessary to justify the legal status of Mr Umerov and Mr Chyihoz.
In addition, the speakers will highlight the work of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, including in the field of constitutional amendment on the status of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
