On 25-26 April 2019, university students in Cherkasy are to meet with Volodymyr Zhemchuhov, Adviser to the Minister of Information Policy and Hero of Ukraine. The meetings will also be attended by Emine Dzhaparova, the First Deputy Minister of Information Policy.
On April 25th, the meeting takes place at Bohdan Khmelnytsky National University of Cherkasy at 81 Shevchenka Ave, at 11:00am.
At 10:00am that day, a press conference for local news media is scheduled at the TV Studio of Cherkasy National University.
In addition, on April 25th, the meeting is held at the Institute of Fire Safety named after Heroes of Chornobyl of the National University of Civil Defence of Ukraine at 8 Onoprienka St.
On April 26th, Mr Zhemchuhov is to meet with students of Cherkasy State Technological University at 460 Shevchenka Ave, at 10:00am.
The meetings will be in “open microphone” format, with anyone wishing to do so able to ask their questions and take part in discussions. Also, “Prisoners of the Kremlin”, a film produced by the order of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, will be presented. At the end of the meeting, the participants will be given discs with the film and other information materials.
Volodymyr Zhemchuhov has supported resistance to Russian aggression. Since May 2014, he has been organising and actively participating in the resistance movement against Russian occupation. From 29 September 2015 through 17 September 2016, he was held captive by militants of the so-called “LNR”, having blown himself up on a trap wire and been seriously injured. Mr Zhemchuhov has also taken an active part in state and volunteer initiatives in Ukraine and abroad, including military and patriotic lectures and discussions with pupils, cadets, and servicepeople.
