Upcoming events Art

On February 20 at 5:00 PM, the Grand Hall of the Odesa National Opera will host the premiere of Stanislav Liudkevych’s cantata-symphony “Caucasus”. This powerful piece, inspired by Taras Shevchenko’s poetry, honors the Ukrainian people’s struggle for freedom and is dedicated to the Day of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.

The theater’s choir and orchestra will perform under the direction of Honored Artist of Ukraine Vasyl Koval, with Tamara Forsiuk directing and Valerii Rehrut as chief choirmaster.

More than just music, “Caucasus” explores themes of resistance and resilience, making the fight for independence relevant today. Accompanied by a visual narrative that highlights Ukraine’s painful history – Holodomor, repression, wars, and oppression – the performance reinforces the spirit and continuity of the nation’s struggle.

The production calls for unity and concludes with a powerful message: “Keep fighting – you are sure to win!”
