More information: Journalist activities are often related to covering crises, conflicts, and catastrophes, which tangibly endangers media workers’ lives and health.
The problem of journalists’ protection looms especially urgent in light of Russia’s military aggression.
In view of an increased tendency towards journalists’ lives being endangered, it deems advisable to introduce additional guarantees of their security, namely legal codification of mandatory insurance of media workers against risks accompanying their work, in particular in case of major hazards, such as natural disasters, accidents, the ATO.
The mandatory insurance of journalists as the media owner’s obligation to insure a journalist’s life and health during professional activities, defined by law, is an additional guarantee of their security.
