The Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine continues to document the damage to cultural infrastructure resulting from the full-scale russian aggression. As of November 25, 2024, 2,130 cultural infrastructure objects have suffered damage, including cultural institutions under the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications and other central executive authorities, excluding heritage sites. Among these, 374 have been destroyed (17.6%).

Cultural infrastructure has experienced the greatest losses in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Luhansk regions.

The largest group of damaged or destroyed cultural infrastructure objects consists of creative hubs, which represent 48.2% of the total number of affected cultural institutions.

The overall impact is as follows:

  • Creative hubs– 1,027
  • Libraries – 759
  • Arts education institutions – 164
  • Museums and galleries – 121
  • Theaters, cinemas, and philharmonics – 39
  • Reserves – 7
  • Parks and zoos – 9
  • Circuses – 4

Damage has occurred to creative hubs, libraries, museums, and theaters across 297 amalgamated communities (20.2% of the total number of amalgamated territorial communities) in the following regions: Vinnytsia (3.2%), Dnipropetrovsk (20%), Donetsk (87%), Zhytomyr (17%), Zakarpattia (2%), Zaporizhzhia (40.3%), Kirovohrad (2%), Kyiv (28.6%), Luhansk (46.2%), Lviv (5.5%), Mykolaiv (44.2%), Odesa (9.9%), Poltava (4%), Sumy (62.7%), Kharkiv (58.9%), Kherson (43%), Khmelnytskyi (17%), Cherkasy (6.1%), and Chernihiv (49%), as well as in Kyiv.
