A new building of the Polish Institute was opened in Kyiv

On November 14, the opening of the new building of the Polish Institute took place in Kyiv. Guests of the event also had the opportunity to view a street exhibition on the occasion of the 364th anniversary of the signing of the Hadiach Treaty, an exhibition of icons on boxes from the cartridges of Oleksandr Klymenko and Sonya Atlantova. The ensemble “Khoreya Kozatska” led by bandurist Taras Kompanichenko performed before the guests.

“Today we mentioned the Hadiach Treaty and we can regret that we did not use this opportunity then. But there is another thing we should mention. Last year, we celebrated the 400th anniversary of the Battle of Khotyn, where Cossack and Polish troops defeated the enemy together. With the beginning of this war, we began to write a new story about our mutual relations within the framework of the protection of national cultural heritage, history. A month before the war, Polish Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Glinski told me: “We are starting all over again”. I am glad that we have established the closest relations with our colleagues from Poland and Lithuania, in particular within the framework of the Lublin Agreement. I know for sure that I can definitely call these two people at night and they will come to help. I wish your new building comfort, happiness, and successful collaboration with Ukrainian artists and actors. Let these collaborations unite us even more. An inspiration to you,” said Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

The opening ceremony was attended by: Vice-Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland  Małgorzata Gosiewska, Minister-Member of the Council of Ministers of Poland Michał Dworczyk, MinisterWojciech Kolarski from the Chancery of the President of the Republic of Poland and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to Ukraine Bartosz Cichocki, from the Ukrainian side – the Minister of Culture and Information Policy Oleksandr Tkachenko, Deputy Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratyuk, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yevhen Perebyinis.

It should be reminded, on November 11, Poland celebrated Independence Day, which the country restored 104 years ago. The historical parallels between the fight for the independence of Poland and Ukraine bring our people together, and also clearly explain the current strategic partnership between Kyiv and Warsaw.
