At Cannes Next: support for Ukraine’s digital and cultural sectors was discussed at Cannes

On May 19, at Cannes Next – the innovative platform Marché du Film, that explores the future of cinema and the entertainment industry– a panel discussion titled “Building civil and digital resilience: How Ukraine and Europe can innovate and create future champions” took place. Among the participants of the discussion was Taras Shevchenko, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine for European Integration.

Cannes Next expressed its solidarity with Ukraine in exploring how the global content, digital and creative sectors can contribute to Ukraine’s goals, despite the ongoing full-scale aggression by russia. During the panel discussion, participants discussed the state of Ukraine’s creative and digital industry, emphasizing its challenges and opportunities.

“Cinema is embracing new forms and meanings, while IT and technology companies in the sector are experiencing growth. It is crucial to foster collaboration and joint production, as well as increase the demand for Ukrainian creative industry professionals, who have established themselves as  influential player in the market. The organizers have provided excellent opportunities for Ukrainian companies to showcase their achievements in Cannes, including Respeecher, Reface, Room 8 Studio, DRESSX, Data Science UA showcased their achievements in Cannes. The interest in all things Ukrainian will act as a driving force for the post-conflict reconstruction of the country and its integration into the EU,” noted Taras Shevchenko.

Among the other panelists were Craig Forman, a global media and technology industry leader and former President and CEO of McClatchy Group; Kristen Davis, CEO and Founder of CinqC; and Guy-Philippe Goldstein, Director of GPG Consulting. Additionally, Valeriya Ionan, Deputy Minister for European Integration, delivered a special address.
