Baukultur-2023: the Conference of European Ministers of Culture started in Davos

From January 14 to 16, the second Conference of European Ministers of Culture under the title “Common Good – Shared Responsibility” will take place in Davos. Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy Anastasia Bondar is participating in the conference from Ukraine, Minister Oleksandr Tkachenko is participating online.

The Davos Declaration, adopted in 2018, strives towards a high-quality Baukultur for everyone, for a better balance between the technical/economic and cultural/social aspects of Baukultur, recognizing that construction always affects both culture and society, and is never an exclusively private matter. Hence, high-quality Baukultur can only be achieved through interdisciplinary dialogue and multi-sectoral cooperation.

The 2023 Conference addresses the role of the building and real estate industry, considering Baukultur as a common good. Participants explore opportunities for better collaboration between authorities, the civil society and the building and real estate industry through initiating continuous exchange and networking. The aim of the conference is to launch the Davos Baukultur Alliance 2023, in which partners from all sectors will be represented.

“Baukultur is becoming extremely important for Ukraine, especially with the upcoming start of large-scale rebuilding of our country. Damaged and completely destroyed cities that will be rebuilt must take into account both modern smart technologies such as energy conservation, and also the concept of baukultur – urban culture of the living environment. Correct restoration, preservation of green areas, intelligent integration of cultural heritage and art – this is all the culture of the habitat, the culture of our environment, which is crucial for the further development of Ukraine,” said Anastasia Bondar, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy, during her speech at the Conference from Ukraine.
