On December 29, the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko had a focused discussion with the Minister of Culture of Bulgaria Velislav Minekov. The online meeting was dedicated to strengthening cultural cooperation between Ukraine and Bulgaria.

The parties agreed to send a special commission from Bulgaria to Ukraine to assess the destruction and protection of cultural heritage. This commission will include highly experienced specialists and the Minister of Culture himself.

“Despite shelling and air raid warnings our constant dialogue with partners doesn’t stop. Bulgaria helps us in the preservation of cultural heritage, provided us with packaging materials for transporting art objects. Today we also discussed how to prevent the international traffic of art objects stolen by russians in Ukraine. I thank my colleagues from Bulgaria for their constant help and willingness to come to us,” said Oleksandr Tkachenko.

The Ukraine’s Minister also emphasized that the cultural sector needs generators, especially in winter. Artists who, despite everything, work in Ukraine also need help. It was also about the need to promote Ukrainian culture in Bulgaria and build close ties between cultural institutions of these two countries.
