On June 30, Anastasia Bondar and Taras Shevchenko, Deputy Ministers of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, met with Vytautas Juozapaitis, Chairman of the Cultural Committee of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, and Marius Dunda, Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Ukraine. The parties discussed further cooperation and strengthening steps in the areas of information security and digitalization of Ukraine’s cultural heritage.
The Ukrainian party expressed sincere gratitude to Lithuania and its citizens for their support on the cultural front, as such support is demonstrated not only in words, but also in concrete actions.
Taras Shevchenko welcomed the additional restrictions and bans imposed on the broadcasting of russian channels implemented by the Lithuanian party. He emphasized the need to continue this process and apply more sanctions and extensive restrictions on russian television companies and media. In addition, the Deputy Minister emphasized the need to unite efforts and continue coordination in promoting the “Information Ramstein” initiative in the field of information security, including sanction policies.
“On the path to full European integration, we are trying to maintain the highest level, demonstrating our resilience against disinformation and enhancing media literacy,” said Taras Shevchenko.
Anastasia Bondar informed about the situation in the cultural sphere, which continues to be a target of deliberate attacks by russian forces. Therefore, the main challenges remain the digitalization of immovable cultural heritage, museum exhibits, and intangible cultural heritage of Ukraine.
The Deputy Minister noted the fruitful collaboration with Lithuanian institutions in the field of museum affairs, conducting training sessions for the exchange of experience among experts, obtaining grants and scholarships, as well as extensive cooperation with the library network and projects related to the restoration of particular objects.
The Lithuanian party confirmed its full support in this fight for identity and expressed readiness for further cooperation.
