CuRe: Ukraine’s Cultural Recovery Platform unveiled at URC2025

At the URC2025 session “Culture and Tourism: Catalysts for Ukraine’s Recovery”, Anastasia Bondar, Deputy Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, presented the Cultural Recovery Platform and a pilot educational project for communities.

CuRe (Culture for Recovery) is a cross-sector initiative that aims to strengthen the role of culture in Ukraine’s recovery, support social unity, and promote sustainable development.

The first 16 participants — Ukrainian communities, along with the All-Ukrainian Association of Territorial Communities (hromadas), the Association of Local Self-Government Bodies, and the All-Ukrainian Association of Communities — have already signed a letter to join the Platform.

“This Platform brings together national and international partners, government bodies, experts, civil society, and cultural organizations to work on joint solutions that put culture at the center of recovery and post-war transformation,” said Anastasia Bondar.

As part of the Platform, a pilot project will launch this autumn — the “Culture in Recovery” community school. This program will help local communities use culture to support transformation and rebuilding.

The school is part of CuRe’s effort to build local capacity and is supported by the Partnership Fund for a Resilient Ukraine.

The CuRe Platform was developed together with the Recovery Support Office, implemented by UNESCO and coordinated by the Reform Support Fund in Ukraine.
