Since the start of the full-scale war, the issue of preserving Ukrainian cultural heritage has become more acute. To protect artifacts from looting and destruction, the Register of Ukraine’s Museum Fund is being established. This is a state-provided, free tool designed for the convenience, transparency, and efficiency of not only museum and Ministry of Culture and Information Policy staff but also for anyone interested in learning about Ukrainian cultural heritage.
To learn about how the register is being populated, how it functions, the data it contains, and how it will help preserve cultural heritage for future generations, read the interview with Anastasia Bondar, Deputy Minister for digital development, digital transformations, and digitalization of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, on Ukrinform.
“The register has already started operating in test mode, and museums have begun exploring and populating it. Technically, it is divided into two parts: an internal one, which is filled by the museums, and a separate public portal for all citizens, serving as an engaging and interactive tool for studying, searching, and promoting Ukrainian museum heritage. The museum register is a digital fortress and a convenient tool for managing Ukraine’s museum funds,” emphasized Anastasia Bondar.
It should be reminded that the Register is being populated by the staff of museums and reserves. At the same time, they are undergoing training on how to work with the system and fill it with data. In the first phase of the register’s implementation, the institutions involved are those specified by the Cabinet of Ministers’ decree dated December 2, 2021.
The Register was developed by Strimco on behalf of the International Solidarity Fund, funded by the Polish government for the state of Ukraine and the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.
