he MCIP continues to record the damage to cultural heritage sites in Ukraine due to russian aggression. During the period from February 24, 2022 to July 25, 2023, 763 sites of cultural heritage have been damaged or destroyed. Among them, there are 105 sites of national importance, 595 – of local importance, and 63 – recently discovered.
Among them, architectural monuments make up 241 sites, sites of architecture and urban planning – 218, related to history – 185, architecture and history – 28, monumental art – 19, urban planning and monumental art – 17, archeology – 18, architecture, urban planning and history – 27, urban planning – 5, science and technology – 2, garden and park art – 1, an architecture, urban planning and monumental art site – 1, an architecture and monumental art site – 1.
According to the data from Regional Military Administrations, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 23 sites have been completely destroyed, 625 sites have been partially damaged, and the extent of damage to 115 sites remains unknown.
Cultural heritage sites have been damaged or destroyed in 15 regions:
- Kharkiv region – 207 damaged/or destroyed sites of cultural heritage (Bohodukhiv district – 4; Izium district – 14; Krasnohrad district – 2; Lozova district – 1; Kharkiv district – 172; Chuhuiv district – 14). Among them, there are 10 of national importance, 193 of local importance, and 4 recently discovered sites of cultural heritage.
- Donetsk region – 100 (Kramatorsk district – 35; Mariupol district – 26; Bakhmut district – 28, Pokrovsk district – 7; Volnovakha district – 4). Among them, there are 12 of national importance, 88 of local importance sites of cultural heritage.
- Kherson region – 76 (Beryslav district – 10; Bilozerka district – 2; Kakhovska district – 32; Kherson district – 32). Among them, there are 11 of national importance, 40 of local importance, and 25 recently discovered sites of cultural heritage.
- Kyiv region – 69 (Bila Tserkva district – 1; Brovary district – 5; Bucha district – 14; Vyshhorod district – 6, Kyiv city – 43). Among them, there are 16 of national importance, 37 of local importance, 16 recently discovered sites of cultural heritage.
- Odesa region – 69 (Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district – 1; Odesa district – 68). Among them, there are 18 of national importance and 51 of local importance.
- Chernihiv region – 63 (Chernihiv district – 56; Koriukivka district – 1; Novgorod-Siverskyi district – 2; Nizhyn district – 3; Pryluky district – 1). Among them, there are 25 of national importance, 33 of local importance, and 5 recently discovered sites of cultural heritage.
- Zaporizhzhia region – 35 sites of local importance (Vasylivka district – 12; Zaporizhzhia district – 12; Polohy district – 10; Melitopol district – 1).
- Lviv region – 32 (Zolochiv district – 1; Stryi district – 1; Frankivsk district – 29; Halytskyi district – 1). Among them, there are 2 of national importance, 30 of local importance.
- Dnipropetrovsk region – 28 (Dnipro district – 15; Kryvyi Rih district – 1; Nikopol district – 12). Among them, there are 1 of national importance, 21 of local importance, and 6 recently discovered sites of cultural heritage.
- Luhansk region – 25 sites of local importance (Svatove district – 5; Sievierodonetsk district – 18, Shchastia district – 2).
- Sumy region – 25 (Konotop district – 5; Okhtyrka district – 12; Sumy district– 7; Shostka district – 1). Among them, there are 5 of national importance, 20 of local importance.
- Mykolaiv region – 22 (Mykolaiv district – 22). Among them, there are 3 of national importance, 15 of local importance, and 4 recently discovered sites of cultural heritage.
- Khmelnytskyi region – 6 (Shepetivka district – 1; Khmelnytskyi district– 5). Among them, there are 3 of local significance, 3 recently discovered cultural heritage sites.
- Vinnytsia region – 4 (Vinnytsia district – 4). Among them, there are 1 of national importance and 3 of local importance.
- Zhytomyr region – 2 (Korosten district – 2). Among them, there are 1 of national importance and 1 of local importance.
