On February 24, 2025, the Grand Theatre in Łódź hosted the charity concert “Contra spem spero”, organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine. The event became a powerful symbol of cultural diplomacy and international support for Ukraine on the anniversary of russia’s full-scale invasion.

The concert brought together masterpieces of European classical music and Ukrainian compositions, reaffirming that Ukraine is an integral part of European culture.
“We defend our country not only with weapons but with our voices, words, and art. Every note in this concert is another step toward victory. Thank you all for being here today, for listening, supporting, and remembering. Thank you, Poland! Thank you to everyone standing with Ukraine today! Together, we will prevail. Glory to Ukraine!” said Galyna Grygorenko, First Deputy Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine.

The event was initiated by renowned Ukrainian singer Iryna Zhytynska, who has been actively organizing charity events to support Ukraine since 2022. Her initiative was supported by Professor Marcin Nałęcz-Niesiołowski, General Director of the Grand Theatre in Łódź. The concert was organized by the Grand Theatre in Łódź and Fundacja Ukraina.

The stage that evening featured stars of the opera scene from Poland and Ukraine: Rafał Siwek, Rafał Bartmiński, Sofiia Solovii, and Iryna Zhytynska. The concert was hosted by Jana Stempniewych, a journalist from Polish Radio for Ukraine.

The concert was not only a musical event but also an act of international solidarity with Ukraine. A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
