Mykola Tochytskyi and Audrey Azoulay discussed UNESCO’s involvement in restoring Ukraine’s cultural infrastructure 

On January 28, the Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine Mykola Tochytskyi met with UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay to discuss restoring the country’s cultural infrastructure with international support.  

The Minister emphasized the severe war damage to Ukraine’s cultural sites, noting that it stems from deliberate russian attacks, including on UNESCO-protected locations.

The discussion also covered staffing shortages in key cultural fields. Ukraine urgently needs more training programs for restorers and specialists handling cultural asset evacuation.

Mykola Tochytskyi expressed gratitude to UNESCO for supporting the creation of the Cultural Hub in Lviv.

On January 28, the UNESCO Cultural Hub was officially opened in Lviv. The Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine Mykola Tochytskyi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain, José Manuel Albares Bueno, UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay, and the Mayor of Lviv Andrii Sadovyi attended the opening ceremony.
