On February 14, during a visit to Germany, Mykola Tochytskyi, the Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, met with Emma Rafowicz, Vice-Chair of the European Parliament Committee on Culture and Education, and Marcos Ros Sempere, Vice-Chair of the European Parliament Committee on Culture and Education, a member of the Ukraine-EU Parliamentary Association Committee delegation.

The officials discussed showcasing Ukraine’s cultural heritage in European museums to raise awareness and protect artifacts endangered by the war.
Both sides stressed the need to strengthen sanctions against cultural crimes caused by hostilities and occupation.
The discussion also focused on Ukrainian artists imprisoned by russia, with both sides emphasizing the need for international efforts to secure their release.
Another key topic was sustaining Ukrainian media, many of which depend on U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) funding. Participants explored support options, including new initiatives and prioritizing existing aid programs.
Mykola Tochytskyi stressed the need for urgent consultations to secure ongoing international funding and develop a clear strategy for supporting independent Ukrainian media. A unified approach would be crucial for the sector’s long-term stability.
