Oleksandr Tkachenko together with Olena Zelenska presented in France a project on the connection of Ukrainian culture with European one – Ukraine. Out of blackout

On December 13, in Paris, Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska together with the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko proposed the Minister of Culture of France Rima Abdul-Malak to jointly implement a project on the thousand-year history of Ukrainian art – Ukraine. Out of blackout. It has to shed light on Ukrainian culture and its connection with Europe.

“All Ukrainian culture today is our Out of blackout. We may not have electricity – but our culture gives us light. And in response, we have to protect our heritage from the attacker,” said Olena Zelenska.

The project demonstrates iconic artifacts from 7 museums of Ukraine from the Middle Ages to modern times. It also shows the connection of Ukrainian art with Europe for a thousand years. But this connection was not obvious, because it was in the shadow of “great russian culture”.

“France can and has to become a locomotive in the creation of a common European cultural front,” said Oleksandr Tkachenko.

During the meeting the urgent needs of Ukrainian cultural institutions to survive the winter and financial support for the cultural sphere of Ukraine were discussed. After all, Ukrainian culture is a part of the world, and it is invaluable to the world.
