Partnership for cultural resilience: online meeting of the Heads of Culture Ministries of Ukraine and Croatia

On September 17, an online meeting took place between Acting Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, Tetyana Berezhna, and Minister of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, Nina Obuljen Koržinek.

Tetyana Berezhna expressed her gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Croatia for its consistent and comprehensive support of Ukraine, particularly in the cultural sphere. She also emphasized Ukraine’s interest in exchanging experience on the protection of cultural heritage during wartime.

The parties also discussed the outcomes of this year’s Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC2025) in Rome, specifically the launch of the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Fund and the Cultural Resilience Alliance. The Acting Minister invited Croatia to join these initiatives and to participate in the inaugural meeting of the Alliance members, which will take place in the near future.

Special attention was also given to the preparations for the Second International Conference “Cooperation for Resilience,” which will be held in November in Copenhagen as part of Denmark’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Another key topic of discussion was cooperation within the framework of UNESCO. The two sides discussed coordinating joint efforts ahead of the upcoming UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development — MONDIACULT — which is scheduled to begin on September 29 in Barcelona.

“Ukraine’s international cultural presence today is not only a matter of national image, but also a vital component of our informational and diplomatic front. We are grateful to our Croatian partners for their support, solidarity, and readiness for concrete action,” Tetyana Berezhna emphasized.

The meeting also touched on the organization of an upcoming visit of the Croatian Minister of Culture to Ukraine.
