The Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, Oleksandr Tkachenko, held an online meeting with the Peruvian novelist, essayist, philosopher and journalist Jorge Mario Pedro Vargas Llosa.
During the meeting, Mario Vargas Llosa assured the Ukrainian side of his full and uncompromising support for Ukraine in its fight against the russian invaders.
Oleksandr Tkachenko thanked for the Peruvian writer for the materials he had written about Ukraine for world publications, and called to spread Ukrainian content more, to support our culture, as well as to counter russian disinformation, especially in the Latin American world, where the writer is respected and listened to.
Mario Vargas Llosa happily accepted the status of the Ambassador of the “Save Ukrainian Culture” project to attract even more support for Ukraine in the cultural sphere, including financial support during the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine.

Jorge Mario Pedro Vargas Llosa is a Peruvian writer, essayist, philosopher, journalist, political and public figure, and the winner of the 2010 Nobel Prize in Literature “for cartography of structures of power and trenchant images of the individual’s resistance, revolt and defeat.”
Since 2014, the writer has been actively supporting Ukraine, publishing materials in support of the Ukrainian people in a number of well-known world publications, including writing articles in support of Ukraine for “El País” (the largest-circulation daily newspaper in Spain).
