Sergii Bieliaiev and the Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre discussed important issues regarding the preservation of cultural heritage in Ukraine

On March 17, Sergii Bieliaiev, Deputy Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, met with Lazare Eloundou Assomo, Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, during his visit to Paris.

The discussion focused on preserving UNESCO World Heritage sites in Ukraine. Representatives from the World Heritage Centre highlighted the need to create an effective management body to protect the World Heritage site in Odesa.

UNESCO also announced that the 47th session of the World Heritage Committee will take place in Paris this July, where the preservation of sites in Kyiv, Lviv, and Odesa will be discussed, and decisions made.

Lazare Assomo and Sergii Bieliaiev, both experts in architecture, also discussed organizing internships for restoration students, with UNESCO’s support, to help restore Ukraine’s cultural heritage after the war.
