Tetyana Berezhna discussed new areas of cooperation with the Ambassador of Türkiye to Ukraine Mustafa Levent Bilgen

On 27 November, Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Minister of Culture of Ukraine Tetyana Berezhna held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Ukraine, Mustafa Levent Bilgen.

Tetyana Berezhna expressed her gratitude to Türkiye for its unwavering support of Ukraine amid the full-scale invasion and emphasized the importance of partnership in preserving and restoring Ukraine’s cultural heritage, which is an integral part of global cultural legacy and requires consolidated international assistance.

“Ukraine is facing unprecedented challenges today. A total of 1,612 cultural heritage sites and 2,427 cultural infrastructure facilities in Ukraine have been affected by russian aggression. Restoring the damaged heritage is a tremendous challenge that cannot be overcome alone. That is why the Ministry of Culture continues working with international partners to address the consequences of destruction and to restore Ukraine’s cultural potential”, said Tetyana Berezhna.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye underlined the depth of historical and cultural ties between the two countries, which provide a solid foundation for further cooperation.

“Our nations share a deep historical bond that continues to shape close cultural and human relations today. Türkiye supports Ukraine and continues working to ensure that, even in these challenging times, our bilateral ties grow even stronger,” emphasized Mustafa Levent Bilgen.

Tatyana Berezhna presented the key programmes of the Cultural Resilience Alliance. The parties also discussed the launch of the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Fund and the “Equipment for Culture” initiative. The Minister invited the Turkish side to expand cooperation in these areas.

Both sides confirmed their readiness to deepen partnerships between the museum, scientific, and artistic institutions of the two countries, to support joint research and cultural projects, and enhance professional dialogue between institutions of Ukraine and Türkiye.
