The EU supports Ukrainian culture: cultural heritage preservation and new initiatives discussed in Brussels

On November 19, Brussels hosted the event “Resilience through Culture: EU Support for Ukrainian Culture.”

The event was attended by Andrii Nadzhos, Deputy Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications for European Integration, alongside representatives from the European Commission and leading European organizations. The discussion focused on key issues surrounding the preservation of Ukraine’s cultural heritage and explored new EU initiatives aimed at supporting the country’s cultural sector. 

Special attention was given to the recommendations of the EU expert group,  which focused on protecting and preserving Ukrainian cultural heritage amid the challenges posed by the ongoing war. The discussion also involved representatives of Ukrainian civil society organizations and specialists in cultural heritage protection.

As part of the event, House of Europe, EU4Culture, and Creative Europe showcased successful projects aimed at supporting Ukrainian cultural initiatives.

The event underscored that culture is a vital tool in the fight for Ukraine’s freedom and independence. European partners reaffirmed their solidarity and commitment to providing comprehensive support to the Ukrainian cultural sector.

The event was hosted by House of Europe and the Goethe-Institut Ukraine, with the support of the European Commission and the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport, and Culture.
