The art exhibition “In the eye of the storm: Modernism in Ukraine 1900-1930” is ongoing at the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum of Art in Madrid, Spain. You can also visit the exhibition through a virtual tour.
This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Anastasia Bondar.
According to her, one of the most important tasks for culture is the opening of national art to the whole world, and nowadays it is also about debunking myths concerning the historical context and originality of Ukrainian art.
“Exhibitions like “In the eye of the storm: Modernism in Ukraine 1900-1930″, which is currently underway at the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum in Madrid, aim to show our art, unknown to the West, which embodies the difficult path of self-determination of Ukrainians, and on the other hand prove the relevance and synchronization of Ukrainian art with the European context of those times,” underlined the Deputy Minister.
She also noted that the planning of expositions and exhibitions in such museums takes place for several years in advance, so Ukraine greatly appreciates partners who find the opportunity to integrate Ukrainian art into a tight museum calendar, popularize and open it to the world.
“A huge group of people, curators, museum workers, embassy employees and volunteers, are working on the implementation of such projects – you are all doing a great job of promoting Ukrainian culture and bringing our victory closer. You can also visit the exhibition through a virtual tour, and thanks to the curator Katia Denysova and her playlist on Spotify, you have the opportunity to add musical accompaniment from the modern Ukrainian sound,” summarized Anastasia Bondar.
