The first meeting of the Ukrainian-Indian working group on cultural cooperation took place

On August 20, the first meeting of the Ukrainian-Indian working group on cultural cooperation took place. Representatives of both countries reviewed the activities and priorities of the Ministries of Culture of Ukraine and India.

The parties finalized the draft text of the Cultural Cooperation Program between the Ministry of Culture of the Government of the Republic of India and the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine for 2024-2028.

“By signing the Cultural Cooperation Program, we not only demonstrate the importance of relations between our people but also formalize our commitment to concrete activities, results, and mutually beneficial projects. These will, in turn, strengthen our existing cooperation,” said Taras Shevchenko, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine for European Integration.

He also outlined the activities of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy and highlighted its priorities.

“Rest assured that India remains committed to further expanding and deepening our close ties with Ukraine for the benefit of both countries and their peoples,” said Lily Pandeya, Joint Secretary of International Cultural Relations of the Ministry of Culture of the Government of the Republic of India.

During the meeting, the Embassy of Ukraine in India raised the issue of the possibility of installing a monument to a prominent Ukrainian figure in New Delhi on a reciprocal basis. The Indian side requested an official proposal be sent to the Ministry of Culture of the Government of the Republic of India and assured its readiness to provide support for the implementation of this initiative.

The Indian side also proposed signing a Joint Statement following the next meeting of the working group, with the date to be agreed upon later.

Representatives of both countries expressed hope for the continuation of a full-fledged dialogue after the signing of the Program during the visit of the Prime Minister of India to Ukraine.
