The Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine discussed key areas of cultural cooperation with the French Ambassador to Ukraine

On March 28, Mykola Tochytskyi, the Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, held a meeting with Gaël Veyssière, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Ukraine, and Olivier Jacquot, Director of the Institut Français of Ukraine.

During the meeting, the Minister expressed his gratitude to France for its steadfast and comprehensive support of Ukraine, particularly its efforts to protect and preserve cultural heritage and  strengthen the resilience of Ukraine’s cultural sector.

Mykola Tochytskyi also thanked the Ambassador for his participation in the First International Conference on Culture in Ukraine, “Cooperation for Resilience”, held on February 1, 2025, in Uzhhorod. He especially appreciated the support of the French delegation for the Declaration adopted at the Conference. The event marked an important step in implementing the “Cultural Sovereignty” point of Ukraine’s Internal Resilience Plan, introduced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in November of the previous year.

In his discussions with the French representatives, the Minister highlighted the strong cooperation in areas such as the museum sector, training Ukrainian restoration specialists, evacuation of cultural property, and the organization of exhibitions of Ukrainian art in France.

Mykola Tochiytskyi also emphasized the vital role of international support for Ukrainian cinema amid the ongoing russian invasion. The discussion highlighted the successful operation of the European Solidarity Fund for Ukrainian Films, launched in 2022 by the French National Center for Cinema and the Moving  Image.

The participants agreed on the importance of collaboration between the creative communities of both countries, recognizing it as a key platform for promoting Ukrainian culture on the European stage.
