On March 4, Mykola Tochytskyi, the Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, met with Rafael de Mello Vidal, Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Ukraine. They discussed opportunities to enhance cultural cooperation between the two countries.
The Minister expressed gratitude for Brazil’s steadfast support of Ukraine and shared the outcomes of the international culture conference “Cooperation for Resilience”, held on February 1, 2025, in Uzhhorod. A key result of the Conference was the adoption of the Declaration on Strengthening Cultural Sector Resilience in Ukraine, which has already been supported by 27 countries. Ukraine also invited Brazil to join this initiative.
The conversation also addressed the development of Ukrainian-Brazilian cooperation in the film industry, particularly through the establishment of contacts between Ukraine’s State Cinema Agency and Brazil’s ANCINE.
Mykola Tochytskyi also suggested exploring the possibility of involving Ukrainian publishers in Brazil’s annual Fundação Biblioteca Nacional program, which supports the translation of Brazilian literature into Ukrainian. Additionally, he proposed fostering collaboration with the Ukrainian Book Institute through the “Translate in Ukraine” program, which promotes translation projects.
Both sides acknowledged the significant contribution of the Ukrainian community in Brazil, which numbers over one million people, in strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.
