On May 17, as part of the visit of the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, to the Republic of Korea, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Korea and the Seoul City Hall. Anastasia Bondar, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, was among the delegation members.
As a result, the countries will engage in cultural and artistic exchanges, including collaborative efforts to implement the project of introducing a Ukrainian-language audio guide at the Sejong Art Center in Seoul. The signing ceremony of the Memorandum was attended by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, and the Mayor of Seoul, Oh Se-hoon.
“We have signed a Memorandum to create the first Ukrainian-language audio guide in the Republic of Korea, which we plan to launch in the complex this year, immediately after its renovation. Ukrainians will be able to hear their native language and discover the ancient and rich culture of the Republic of Korea. To date, we have already launched 63 audio guides in 39 countries. The Republic of Korea will be the 40th country,” said Olena Zelenska.
The Sejong Center is the largest cultural and arts complex of the capital city, housing exhibition halls and theater halls. It was constructed in the center of Seoul in 1978. The center is named after the renowned figure in Korean history, King Sejong the Great, who ruled from 1418 to 1450 and is known for creating the Korean alphabet, Hangul.
The Sejong Center houses the largest theater in the country, the “Grand Theater”, with a seating capacity of 3,000. Additionally, it features the country’s largest theater, the Art Forum Gallery, the Seoul Opera, and various traditional arts groups.
