“Today, Japan is one of the most significant investors in Ukraine’s cultural infrastructure and its restoration,” said Rostyslav Karandieiev

Today, on June 7, within the framework of the International Conference “Towards the Recovery of the Cultural Sector of Ukraine” in Vilnius, Acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Rostyslav Karandieiev met with Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Masahiro Komura. They discussed cooperation and assistance to Ukraine during the war.

“Today, Japan is one of the most significant investors in Ukrainian cultural infrastructure and its restoration. We greatly appreciate this support. We are very grateful to the diplomatic representation of Japan in Ukraine, especially to Ambassador Kuninori Matsuda, who is a great friend of the Ukrainian people,” said Acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Rostyslav Karandieiev.

He thanked all Japanese people and the Government of Japan for their tremendous support in the fields of infrastructure, Information technologies, culture, and media, including the city councils of Tokyo, Kyoto, and Yokohama for their targeted support of local projects in Ukraine. Additionally, the Acting Minister expressed gratitude to Japan for supporting the initiative of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding the organization of the Global Peace Summit.

Rostyslav Karandieiev expressed hope that other projects important for Ukraine could also be of interest to the Japanese government. One such project includes the need to establish a fund for the preservation of cultural valuables.

“Together with other countries, we support Ukraine and do everything to stop russian aggression and ensure the arrival of lasting peace on the territory of Ukraine,” noted Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Masahiro Komura.

He also added: “During the conference on the restoration of Ukraine, which will take place next week in Berlin, Japan is also ready to support the restoration process through the involvement of both state and private partnerships.”

The results of the Vilnius conference will be presented at the International Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine in Berlin on June 11-12 of this year.
