Ukraine and France have identified new areas of cooperation in the fields of culture and strategic communications

On September 12, the Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, Mykola Tochytskyi, held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Ukraine, Gaël Veyssière. Representatives of the Ministry and the embassy were also present at the meeting.

The parties discussed the possibility of enhancing cooperation in the preservation of cultural heritage, strengthening strategic communications, and promoting Ukrainian cultural products in France.

“We are interested in exchanging experiences with various countries, especially with our key partners. At present, we cannot afford to turn a blind eye to issues related to the fight against russian propaganda. I am certainly glad that France is our ally, actively supporting the strengthening of strategic and crisis communications,” emphasized Mykola Tochytskyi, Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications.

The Ukrainian delegation put forward a number of proposals for implementing the Security Agreement between Ukraine and France, the main ones being: providing France with information to impose personal sanctions against propagandists who justify or deny the aggression of the russian federation; establishing a mutually beneficial exchange between French and Ukrainian experts in the field of information security and strategic communications; and fostering effective cooperation in detecting and countering hybrid threats.

“It is important to understand that culture is also a form of communication. Therefore, we will be glad to cooperate with Ukrainian artists and experts in the field of education. In the nearest future, we hope to attend the launch of new educational courses focused on countering disinformation,” said Gaël Veyssière, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Ukraine.

The participants of the meeting emphasized the need for joint efforts to counter russian propaganda, as well as the importance of developing an information security strategy and increasing resources to combat disinformation.
