During a working visit to Paris, the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko met with his French colleague, the Minister of Culture of France Rima Abdul-Malak. The parties discussed current projects and further plans for cooperation between the two countries.
In particular, the following topics were discussed:
- the organization of the World Forum under the auspices of UNESCO, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of France, to assist in the preservation of Ukraine’s cultural heritage;
- performances by leading Ukrainian theaters in France in autumn;
- participation of Ukrainian representatives in folk crafts and creative industries at the Strasbourg Christmas Market;
- continuation of training of Ukrainian specialists;
- providing assistance in participating in Fashion Week in Paris and exhibitions dedicated to design in France;
- continuation of the development of the idea for a larger-scale exhibition of Ukrainian museums in Paris;
- organization of an exhibition of the Ukrainian project “ArtArmor”, where artists and children paint plate carriers that have protected our soldiers. The Minister presented one such plate carrier, which was transformed into the Icon “Mother of God, Softener of Evil Hearts”, to the French colleague.
“The most significant event today is the presentation of the exhibition of unique icons from the Khanenko Museum at the Louvre Museum, which warmly opened its doors to Ukraine. And perhaps a small, but important detail is the statement from the director of the Louvre: “Our doors are always open to you.” We also express our gratitude to ALIPH for offering assistance in urgent archaeological work in the flooded areas caused by the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP by russians, as well as in the areas where the level of water has receded”, summarized Oleksandr Tkachenko.
