On May 4, a meeting was held between Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, and his Deputies: Galyna Grygorenko, Taras Shevchenko, Anastasia Bondar, Kateryna Chuyeva and Salem Ahmed Al Kaabi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates in Ukraine.
The parties discussed cooperation between Ukraine and the UAE in the spheres of protection, preservation and restoration of Ukrainian cultural heritage, as well as ways of supporting Ukrainian creative industries, cultural institutions and artists. They also discussed assistance to Ukraine in digitalizing the cultural sphere, countering russian propaganda, supporting the Ukrainian Cultural Fund, the Ukrainian Book Institute, sharing the experience among experts in the cultural sphere.
“We are preparing a list of particular projects that require comprehensive support from our partners in the UAE. This will help us preserve Ukrainian cultural heritage during russian attacks, restore damaged objects, support artists working in Ukraine despite the war, counter russian propaganda,” said Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.
The Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates expressed comprehensive support to Ukraine in its fight against the aggressor and assured the expansion of cooperation between the countries in the cultural sphere.
It is worth noting that, on the visit to the UAE at the invitation of the Forbes 30/50 Forum held in Abu Dhabi from March 7-10, First Lady Olena Zelenska visited the UAE National Library and Archives. It is among the top ten most technologically advanced in the world. She also donated books to the library as part of her Ukrainian Bookshelf project.
