Ukrainian Symphony Orchestra in Warsaw: music that unites

The National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine performed at the Warsaw National Philharmonic under the direction of Maestro Volodymyr Sirenko on December 5. 

The event marked a significant milestone in the cultural dialogue between Ukraine and Poland. Mykola Tochytskyi, the Minister of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, and Hanna Wróblewska, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage of Poland, along with numerous guests,  attended the musical event. 

The Ukrainian Minister expressed gratitude to the Republic of Poland for its unwavering support amid russia’s armed aggression. He emphasized that the Polish people have extended their kindness to Ukrainians by providing shelters and assistance. Mykola Tochytskyi highlighted that this support has become a symbol of solidarity, helping Ukraine to persevere in its fight for rights, European values, and the future of all of Europe.

Minister Tochytskyi underscored the importance of cultural projects that enhance mutual understanding between nations and conveyed his sincere appreciation to Maestro Volodymyr Sirenko for his contributions to promoting Ukrainian musical heritage. He also expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Warsaw National Philharmonic, Wojciech Nowak and Krzysztof Urbanowski, for their role in implementing this significant project and for their courageous decision to reject creative collaborations with russia.

The Polish Minister of Culture reaffirmed her country’s support to Ukraine in its struggle for freedom and promoting the preservation and appreciation of Ukrainian culture.

The concert program featured works by outstanding Ukrainian composers from various eras, highlighting the richness and uniqueness of the national musical heritage. Maestro Volodymyr Sirenko skillfully blended elements of classical and contemporary music, conveying a profound spiritual connection between Ukrainian and European cultures.

This evening became more than just a musical event. It transformed into a symbol of the unity between Ukraine and Poland, which together defend freedom, values, and cultural heritage against the threats of war.
