The UNESCO Heritage in Emergency Fund has approved a project to assist the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy with $1.5 million for the development of digitalization tools in the field of cultural heritage in Ukraine.
The agreements were reached as a result of fruitful cooperation between UNESCO and the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.
During the meeting between the Deputy Ministers of Culture and Information Policy, Anastasia Bondar and Kateryna Chuyeva, and the Head of the UNESCO office in Ukraine, Chiara Dezzi Bardeschi, specific steps were discussed for implementing the project and becoming familiar with the national expert who will collaborate with the MCIP to help integrate plans and strategies in line with current challenges and European requirements.
“We had a very productive working meeting with the Head of the UNESCO office in Ukraine, Chiara Dezzi Bardeschi. We discussed specific steps and the allocation of $1.5 million through the special UNESCO Heritage in Emergency Fund for the expedited implementation of technical solutions that will enable us to create and develop modern tools for digitalization, monitoring, and preservation of Ukrainian culture,” said Anastasia Bondar.
Furthermore, according to her, UNESCO will provide 40% of the required hardware and equipment for the development of server infrastructure, along with international consultants who will support all processes, and aid in the development of integration strategies for the digital aspect of culture into the European space by July 2023.
