16 June, 2015 in Kramatorsk the Advisor to the Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine on ensuring TV and Radio Broadcasting Oleksandr Brygynets took part in a visiting session of the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine.
The session, involving the head of the Donetsk regional military and civilian administration Pavlo Zhebrivskyi, was held by head of the National Council on Television and Radio Yurii Artemenko, deputy head Gregori Schwerk and members of this regulatory body. Participants of the event also were: head of the Concert RRT Volodymyr Ishchuk, deputy chief of Anti-terrorist Staff operation in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions Colonel Sergii Galushko, representatives of broadcasters and providers of program service and media, who work in Donbas.
“We discussed many problems that currently facing broadcasters in the area of Anti-terrorist operation. We talked about spreading of the signal, tower restoration, bringing that signal to combat units, as well as the problems related to the digital package of T2, filling up content of local cable operators”, – said the Advisor to the Minister.
Oleksandr Brygynets noted that this was one of the biggest and most professional discussions of the problems that faced the media industry of Donbas.
“There is a hope, that raised issues will be solved, in part, by the National Council and RRT Concern, and some problems will soon be submitted to our joint session of the Commission on ensuring a stable functioning of the national television and radio broadcasting chaired by the Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Tetiana Popova”, – added the Advisor to the Minister.
The participants of the session discussed both the issue of resuming Ukrainian media availability in the occupied Donbas, and the possibility of increasing the number of Ukrainian electronic media in ATO area.
One should remember that in occupied territories of Luhansk and Donetsk regions Ukrainian TV channels are being shut down and replaced with Russian or separatist ones since May 2014. This is the way “DPR” and “LPR” leadership have chosen to hold the residents of Donbas in informational isolation.
