May 26, during regular session of Commission on ensuring stable operation of national television and radio broadcasting headed by the Deputy Minister Tetiana Popova and held in the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine discussed the issue of expanding Ukrainian TV broadcasting network on liberated territories.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Council of Ukraine on Television and Radio Broadcasting, the Broadcasting, Radiocommunications & Television Concern of the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection of Ukraine, the State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting, Security Service, and MIP lawyers. Thus, during the meeting the Commission decided to allot 5 transmitters to restore broadcasting of Ukrainian TV channels: 3 transmitters for Donetsk and Luhansk broadcasters and 2 transmitters for UT1 channel.
Besides, there are ongoing talks with private channels regarding purchase of additional equipment by the latter and their ability to pay for electricity to broadcast in the ATO area and surrounding territories.
However, the Ukrainian State Centre of Radio Frequencies is authorized to hold bidding procedure of procurement for channels and the Broadcasting, Radiocommunications & Television Concern, in its turn, will ensure the installation of equipment. To restore the broadcasting in ATO area and build new TV towers, the Commission members will proceed with determining the highest points on the liberated territories.
