During the working visit to Brussels at the first meeting of EU-Ukraine Association Committee, the Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Tetiana Popova spoke on strategic communications and violations of journalists’ rights in Crimea and eastern Ukraine.
In the final session, chaired by the Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, Tetiana Popova drew the attention of European officials to proliferation of propaganda press, showing one of the issues of the newspaper:
“In Brussels, the restaurants are handing out free newspapers. European officials know that they made on RF money, though the newspapers allegedly Greek. Anti-misinformation Department at the European Commission must do much in this direction”.
Talking about the activities of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, Tetiana Popova informed participants on the launch of the foreign broadcasting channel, including russian language, scheduled for 24 August. The Deputy Minister expressed hope for EU support in this direction.
