On 14 September 2018, Yuriy Stets, the Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine, met in Kyiv with He Ping, Editor-in-Chief of Xinhua news agency.
The sides agreed to cooperate in the information field, including mutual promotion and information exchange between the International Broadcasting Multimedia Platform of Ukraine and Xinhua.
“For us, the key goal of the meeting is for people in China to have more credible news about Ukraine, about positive changes that are happening here, and about the peculiarities of Ukrainian life and our unique culture,” Mr Stets was quoted as saying.
He Ping, in his turn, assured China was ready to deepen bilateral cooperation with Ukraine. “Our site is read by nearly 100ml people around the world,” he stressed.
Earlier that day, Ukrinform, Ukraine’s national news agency, and Xinhua signed an agreement on information cooperation.
Xinhua, China’s largest news agency, was founded on 7 November 1931. Based in Beijing, it has offices in 105 countries and publishes news in eight languages.
