On 16 January 2019, the diplomatic reception “Treasures of the Nation” took place at National Conservation Area “Sophia of Kyiv.”
The event was organised by the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, 1+1 TV channel and National Conservation Area “Sophia of Kyiv” with the support of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine.
The event featured Ukraine’s unique historical artefacts and a documentary film, “Treasures of the Nation”, from the “Ukraine. Returning Its Own History” series, produced by 1+1 TV channel.
Emine Dzhaparova, First Deputy Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine, stressed that such quality media projects as “Treasures of the Nation” were very important in terms of information at a time of Russian hybrid aggression.
“This film exposes historical falsifications of the imperial and Soviet times about Ukraine, which Ukrainian society has experienced now that Crimea has been occupied and Donbas is engulfed in war. Thankfully, today we are returning our own history,” she was quoted as saying.
Akim Galimov, the author of the film, said that the work on it had taken more than a year. “We sought to carry out a complete historical inquiry: six countries, more than 20 scientists from all over the world. It is extremely important that the state understands the ned to promote history, a history without myths. I am grateful to the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine for supporting this project,” Mr Galimov said.
The film, produced by the Ministry’s order, will be aired on 1+1 TV channel on January 19th, at 8:15pm. “I am sure that those who will watch the film will be even more proud of our heroic past,” said Maryna Sobotiuk, Adviser to the Minister.
The event was attended by Yevhen Nyshchuk, Minister of Culture of Ukraine; Liliia Hrynevych, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine; Volodymyr Omelian, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine; members of the diplomatic missions; Ukrainian MPs; foreign and Ukrainian mass media; and members of historical societies.
Gregor Rozumovsky, a descendant of Hetman Kyrylo Rozumovsky, had also come to the event from Austria.
