On 12 October 2018, “Invite Me from War”, a solemn event on the Defenders of Ukraine Day, organised by the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, took place at the Column Hall of Kyiv City State Administration. The project was designed to draw attention to rehabilitation of servicepeople fighting in eastern Ukraine.
The event was attended by Maryna Poroshenko, First Lady of Ukraine. She noted that such projects as “Invite Me from War” struck a chord with each and every patriot of their state.
“The project has been brought off. We thank all ambassadors, President’s wife Maryna Poroshenko, Iryna Herashchenko, Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, and everyone who joined. Most importantly, the project is moving forward. We will certainly hold it in Ukraine’s regions and abroad,” the Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine, Yuriy Stets, was quoted as saying.
Twenty couples — Ukraine’s defenders and Ukrainian Amazonians (servicewomen who fought in eastern Ukraine, and female volunteers and military correspondents) — presented their dance pieces.
At the event, the couples told their war stories through dance — about lovers who found each other on the battlefield; about people who, even at war, have not lost the love of life; about the fight for life at war, etc. The dances were accompanied with live performances of the bands The Doox and “Bez Obmezhen”.
The solemn event was attended by Iryna Herashchenko, First Deputy Chairwoman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine; Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze, Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration; Hugues Mingarelli, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine; Morten Enberg, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Ukraine; members of diplomatic missions in Ukraine; people’s deputies of Ukraine; heads of regional state administrations; foreign and Ukrainian news media; members of international funds; Ukrainian and foreign entrepreneurs.
Within the framework of the “Invite Me from War” project, a photo exhibition “War Does Have a Woman’s Face” was launched on the administration’s premises.
