May 21, the Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Yurii Stets met with US Under Secretary of State Richard Stengel. The meeting was also attended by US Ambassador Jeffrey Payette and the Deputy Minister Tetiana Popova.
During the meeting, the Minister presented projects, which are now being embodied by the MIP on three directions: development of strategy documentation by experts in the field of information security, information policy of the Crimea, and establishing communications between public institutions and citizens in the framework of “Open Government” program.
Mr. Stengel emphasized the need to disseminate the information about reforms undertaken by the Government both domestically and worldwide.
As an example of a tool to deliver the information about positive changes taking place in Ukraine, Yurii Stets told about the project of creating an international broadcasting channel “Ukraine Tomorrow”. The parties agreed on the need to attract consultants from the United States to enhance professional and organizational capacity of programs implemented by the Ministry.
In the nearest future the Ministry of Information Policy is going to represent a development strategy for “Ukraine Tomorrow” channel in order to discuss and finalize it with regard to recommendations of the international expert community.
