27 October, 2015, the Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Yurii Stets stated this at the reporting press conference of the Ministry on the seventh month of activity – September, in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
Yurii Stets: “Ambassadors of Egypt, Turkey, Bulgaria assured me that UATV channel will appear on cable networks in these countries in the nearest future”. The Minister added that he hopes Australian UATV will be broadcasted in a week.
During the event, the Minister also presented the newly appointed Advisor on Information Policy of Crimea Emine Dzheppar, who spoke about her plans in this post.
“My work is a follow-up of what Sergii Kostynskyi did in this post – said Advisor Emine Dzheppar – This is activity towards international coverage of freedom of speech and human rights in Crimea, as well as continuation of communication campaigns of the Ministry towards Crimea. My mission, as far I can see it, is maintenance of interest to the Crimean Tatar people.”
In addition, during the press conference, Deputy Minister Tetiana Popova reported on the status of the restoration of broadcasting based on the results of the Commission under the MIP together with BRT Concern.
In turn, Deputy Minister Artem Bidenko informed that MIP has sent an appeal to MPs concerning urgent adoption of the bill on reforming municipal media by the Parliament.
The event was attended by: Minister of Information Policy of Ukraine Yurii Stets, Deputy Minister Artem Bidenko and Tetiana Popova, and the newly appointed Advisor to the Minister on Information Policy of Crimea Emine Dzheppar.
Recall that on 1 October, the Multimedia foreign broadcasting platform of Ukraine was launched. UATV channel, as part of the platform, broadcasts from three satellites: Amos 3, Azerspace 1, Galazy 19, as well as on its own YouTube channel. Currently, Yurii Stets holds the meetings with ambassadors of foreign countries concerning inclusion of foreign broadcasting TV channel into cable network of the world. After the adoption of the MIP draft law On foreign broadcasting system of Ukraine, the channel will gain a status of state broadcaster.
