On May 29, the international charity telethon Save Ukraine – #StopWar – took place live from Berlin and Kyiv. Dozens of performers, artists, political leaders, actors, athletes from around the world called on the world community to stop the brutal war of russia and lobby for the return of peace to Ukraine and, consequently, to the whole of Europe.
“During the war in Ukraine, the whole world came together to help. And the second marathon Save Ukraine – #StopWar is another example of cooperation of thousands of people to counteract the aggressor country. This is a whole community of concerned citizens of Ukraine and the EU who support our culture and Ukrainian performers, and, thus, provide huge fund-raising for the needs of the army. Thank you to everyone who made a charitable contribution. Any help is invaluable and brings us closer to our victory“, said Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.
In total, as of May 31, the Ministry of Health of Ukraine managed to raise over UAH 6,000,000 within the marathon. These funds will be used to purchase C-arch X-ray machines for the regions, which take injured. In addition, within the framework of the Dynamo Kyiv project, it was decided to rebuild the Gurivshchyna outpatient clinic in Bucha district, which was completely destroyed as a result of the war. Millions of hryvnias are needed to fully restore the institution, which will be covered by the football club.
The Save Ukraine – #StopWar marathon has started raising funds for the purchase of medical equipment. Therefore, the goal of purchasing 12 X-ray machines, the approximate cost of which is 100,000 euros per unit, remains. So the organizers and partners of the telethon plan to hold a number of actions and projects in June and July aimed at achieving this goal. In total, the rally on the occasion of the event in the German capital was attended by nearly 20,000 people. More than 350,000 people watched the live telethon on Digital, and the broadcast was included in the TOP of Ukrainian YouTube. TV channels and VOD platforms in some countries show the telethon additionally in repetition or in recording, respectively, fundraising is still ongoing.
The Save Ukraine – #StopWar telethon is implemented by 1 + 1 media teams, Atlas Festival, Suspilneand Kyivstar, with the support of Dynamo Kyiv Football Club, the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. Havas, Semantic corpus, Pilecki-Institut, Vitsche also helped to organize the event.
